Screen


The word screen in the Spanish language is used to define various things, however its main use is to name the piece belonging to a computer, television, cell phone or other electronic instrument through which texts or images can be displayed. In this sense, different types of screens can be found:

Flat screen: it is a kind of very thin monitor, a property that makes them less heavy, in addition to taking up little space, quite the opposite of traditional screens. This type of screens is very popular in televisions and computers.

Within the flat screen group are the so-called plasma screens; This type of screens has plasma technology, which is based on the projection of light using the electrical alteration of a gas. This technology makes it possible to achieve high contrast displays. However, this kind of screen is still a bit expensive; in addition to representing a high energy consumption, which may be greater than that of an LCD screen.

LCD screens, or liquid crystal screens, are manufactured using two transparent parallel plates with slots, oriented 90º from each other. The space between these plates contains a thin layer of liquid, which is made up of molecules that are characterized by focusing when exposed to electric current.

LED screens, on the other hand, are those that are made up of LEDs, which are light-emitting diodes. Currently this kind of screens is widely used to display information or advertising, in the same way it is very common that these screens are placed in public events, concerts, stadiums.

Touch screens are those that just by touching them directly on their surface, allows access to data and device orders. This type of screen is very popular in company devices and public computers, such as ATMs, information screens, etc. Today, most smartphones have a touch screen, as do tablets and iPods.

Finally, the term screen is also used to refer to the large surface, found in movie theaters and on which movies are projected.
