It is a term that seeks to describe the property of being very long or of a considerable length, whose origin lies in the Latin term “longus”. In this aspect, it can be said that it is related to the measurement aspects; It is one of the essential elements within what is the precise measurement of the distance between two points. All these processes were previously important, helping the ancients to be able to set limits on the land and determine the extension that certain components in a construction should have. The special theory of relativity, developed by Einstein, proposes that the length can vary depending on the individual who observes it.

Similarly, certain methods were devised to carry out these activities, such as the use of arms, feet, hands and fingers to be able to take measurements of an area or object. Nowadays, other units are used, such as the meter, which changes depending on the magnitude with which it is to be measured, that is, each derivation of the meter has a different equivalence; for example, the kilometer is much greater than the decameter, centimeter, millimeter, among others. Likewise, the purpose for which it is used has changed, since it goes more towards the field of technological research, in addition to, obviously, chemistry and physics.

However, the term luengo is also used as a surname. Its origin is marked by the Latin “longus”, a language that used to be used in Italy; A current of events moved the surname to Spain, where the “o” was changed to “ue”, becoming Luengo. It was also thought that it came from the Greek lands, by a soldier who called himself El Luengo.
