Heart attack

In medicine, the term infarction is used to refer to the death of the tissue of an organ, which is caused by the obstruction of the arteries that supply said organ, this obstruction can be caused by different factors such as atherosclerotic plaques inside of the vessel or tumors that compress the artery. Infarcts can occur in any organ of the body but the most common are in the heart (myocardial infarction), brain (cerebrovascular accident), kidney (renal infarction) and intestine (mesenteric intestinal infarction).

The correct functioning of the heart depends on the good circulation that occurs through the coronary arteries, myocardial infarction occurs when the coronary arteries are obstructed, this can occur when the heart is forced, which can generate the appearance of a clot in the artery, obstructing blood circulation, preventing the organ and its tissues from receiving a correct blood supply, therefore the fibers die, the damage being irreparable. Usually this does not happen suddenly, but rather by processes that can slowly clog the artery. The risk factors that increase the chances of suffering a myocardial infarction are smoking, excessive consumption of foods with high cholesterol levels, people suffering from diabetes, hypertensives, since all of them cause the heart to work overloaded .

The main symptoms that must be taken into account to know that you are in the presence of a heart attack are strong chest pains that last for long periods of time, the patient can feel it as a pressure on the chest and that can include also the areas of the arms, shoulders, back and even the mouth, breathing is also very difficult, sweating occurs, the body turns pale, in some cases, the affected person may have dizziness, nausea and vomiting. It should be noted that if these symptoms occur, the emergency medical services should be called immediately or, failing that, go to the nearest hospital, so that they can provide the necessary care.
