Group Dynamics

As Group Dynamics are called verbal discussion techniques whose objective is to analyze a topic to solve a problem, in a period of time (between 30 and 45 minutes) and within an atmosphere of harmony and respect. The most used types of dynamics are the forum, the round table, the debate, the panel and the brainstorming. It is important to know that group dynamics does not have a solution. At the end of the test there will be no winner or loser, or one opinion more correct than another.

Kurt Lewin, an American psychologist, was the one who first used the expression group dynamics to designate the set of phenomena that take place in the life of a group. He emphasized the dynamic nature of a group as it went through different phases in its constitution and development. He considers it important to take into account the interrelationships that exist between the people that make up a group, since the change in one of them causes a transformation in the whole. Considered from this perspective, group dynamics appears as a natural process, inherent to the existence of any group.

Battegay then added two other meanings to the already existing concepts: in the first, he explains it as an applied science that encompasses a set of techniques and methods of practical work, and the other is presented as a new ideology that aims to help solve problems and interpersonal conflicts. .

They are means, methods or tools, used when working with groups to achieve group action. They have the power to stimulate particular impulses and motivations and stimulate external and internal dynamics, so that the energies can be better integrated and thus achieve the objectives of the group.

Group dynamics are becoming more and more common in job interviews, since they allow the qualities of all the candidates who opt for the same job to be analyzed. And it is that no matter how good a Curriculum Vitae the applicant has, there is nothing better than testing her skills in a practical way. For this there are different types of group dynamics supervised by psychologists that produce surprising results.

Among the group dynamics we have the round table, it allows evaluating the capacity for synthesis, persuasion and good argumentation. In the round table job interview it is not about imposing opinions, but about respecting the exchange of words and defending the point of view of each one with empathy.

The debate consists of a discussion of two or more candidates in relation to a certain topic. The main objective of discussion techniques in group dynamics can be summarized in four values: cooperation, respect, order and commitment.

It consists of a series of questions in the employment interview, the interviewers study to what extent the interviewee or participant has the necessary qualities to opt for the job.
