They are solid structures formed by bile that is in a state of crystallization, these formations can cause many problems when they obstruct the bile duct or even inside the gallbladder, which can cause great inflammation in the area and consequently pain. very intense, this condition is called cholecystitis, its size is very variable and can range from small clusters the size of a grain of sand or can reach the size of a golf ball.

Gallstones can be of two types depending on what causes them, the first are those produced by high cholesterol levels, this being the main cause of their formation, some factors that can increase their formation are incorrect emptying of the gallbladder, as well as its abnormal displacement. Secondly, there are gallstones formed by bilirubin, these are produced by high levels of bilirubin. There are some factors that can increase the chances of formation of these structures, such is the case of bone marrow or organ transplants, the intake of contraceptive drugs, intravenous feeding, infections in the bile ducts, diabetes, among others.

The appearance of gallstones is very common but they usually do not present symptoms, in most cases people are aware of their presence, according to studies carried out, 25 percent of women will have developed gallstones before the 60 years, in men the number is a little lower, however it is also frequent. On the other hand, in the event that the calculations have a large size, which can cause a bile duct to cluck, it is very likely that the pain will be present in the abdominal region, specifically in the right area, the pain is comparable to that produced by the colic, the pain can last up to half an hour, being variable from very mild to intense, it can be accompanied by fever and the skin turns yellow, other symptoms include orange stools, nausea and constant vomiting.
